![]() A Night in Vienna - June 2008In the splendid setting of the grounds of Hever Castle, on Midsummer Evening (when it was just about warm enough, just about still enough, and mercifully dry), we gave a joint concert with Sevenoaks Philharmonic Choir in aid of the charity International Needs, and specifically their 'Sticks to Bricks' project to replace the inadequate school in the village of Agortorme in Ghana. Much of the music was of course provided by the Strauss family and Lehar, but there was also muisc by Mozart, and a selection of the Liebeslieder Waltzes by Brahms in the version for choir and orchestra. Naomi Harvey was the wonderful soloist in a number of arias. We are delighted that the evening, which was a sell-out, raised £14,000 for the children of Agortorme.
